Focus and Scope

Safīnah: Indonesian Journal of Sharia and Islamic Sciences is a peer-reviewed academic journal dedicated to publishing high-quality scholarly works in the broad fields of Islamic studies and Sharia sciences. The journal serves as an academic platform for researchers, academics, scholars, and practitioners to disseminate original empirical studies, theoretical analyses, normative research, and critical reviews that address both classical and contemporary issues in Islam and Muslim societies at national and global levels.

Manuscripts may be submitted in English or Indonesian and must demonstrate academic rigor, originality, and relevance to the development of Islamic knowledge and Sharia-based studies. The scope of Safīnah includes, but is not limited to, Islamic law (fiqh and usul al-fiqh), Qur’anic studies, Hadith studies, Islamic theology (aqidah), Islamic philosophy, Sufism (tasawwuf), Islamic education, Islamic economics and finance, Islamic ethics, Islamic history and civilization, Islamic politics, contemporary Islamic thought, and interdisciplinary studies related to Islam and Sharia.

By embracing a comprehensive orientation toward Islamic and Sharia sciences, Safīnah aims to strengthen scholarly discourse on Islamic knowledge, promote critical and contextual analysis of Islamic teachings, and contribute to the advancement of Islamic scholarship that is responsive to contemporary challenges. Safīnah: Indonesian Journal of Sharia and Islamic Sciences is published three times a year, with scheduled issues in January, May, and September, reflecting a sustained commitment to fostering continuous academic dialogue and the development of Islamic sciences at both national and international levels.
