Author Guidelines

Devosia: Community Outreach Journal of Indonesian Movement publishes original and high-quality scholarly manuscripts focusing on community service, community-based research, and community empowerment across multidisciplinary fields. The journal welcomes submissions in all areas of community outreach, including but not limited to education, health, economics and entrepreneurship, agriculture, environment, technology transfer, disaster mitigation, public policy, social innovation, cultural development, gender studies, digital literacy, and interdisciplinary community-based programs.

All submitted manuscripts must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration by any other journal.

Submission Procedure

Manuscripts must be submitted electronically through the journal’s Online Journal System (OJS). Authors are required to register prior to submission and strictly follow all instructions provided on the OJS platform. Submissions that do not comply with these guidelines may be returned to authors for revision before entering the peer-review process.

Manuscript Format

  • Paper size: A4, single column

  • Margins: 2.5 cm on all sides

  • Line spacing: 1

  • Length: Maximum 20 pages (including tables, figures, and references)

  • Font: Times New Roman

  • Main text: 11 pt

  • Tables, figures, and references: 11 pt

  • Headings (H3): 12 pt

Title, Abstract, and Keywords

  • Title: Maximum 12 words (English).

  • Author Information: Author names must be written without academic titles. Institutional affiliation and email address are required.

  • Abstract: Written in both English and Indonesian (maximum 200 words). The abstract should clearly present the background of the community problem, program objectives, target community, methods or approaches used, main results or impacts, and conclusions.

  • Keywords: Up to five keywords reflecting the core topics of community service and community empowerment discussed in the manuscript.

Article Structure

Introduction (15–20%)
Presents the background of the community problem, program rationale, objectives, significance of the activity, and a brief review of relevant community service or applied research literature.

Methodology (10–15%)
Describes the type of community service or applied research, target community, location and duration, program design, implementation methods, data collection techniques, instruments, and evaluation procedures.

Results and Discussion
Presents program implementation, outcomes, community responses, analysis of program effectiveness, challenges encountered, and discussion in relation to relevant theories, previous community service studies, and practical implications.

Conclusion
Summarizes key findings, program impacts, lessons learned, sustainability prospects, limitations, and recommendations for future community service or applied research.

References

  • References and in-text citations must follow APA Style (7th Edition).

  • At least 80% of references should be published within the last 10 years, prioritizing peer-reviewed journal articles, community service reports, policy documents, and reputable scholarly sources.

  • The use of reference management software (e.g., Mendeley, Zotero, or EndNote) is strongly recommended.

Review Articles

Review articles should include the following sections: Introduction, Conceptual or Theoretical Framework of Community Service, Critical Analysis or Discussion, and Conclusion. Review manuscripts must demonstrate strong analytical depth, originality, and relevance to the advancement of community outreach and empowerment practices.

Checklist Before Submission

Before submitting the manuscript, authors must ensure that:

  • The manuscript complies with these Author Guidelines.

  • The work is original, unpublished, and not under review elsewhere.

  • References are complete and formatted according to APA Style (7th Edition).

  • Tables, figures, and illustrations are clear, properly numbered, and cited in the text.

  • All necessary permissions have been obtained for any third-party materials, community data, or instruments, if applicable.

Submission Preparation Checklist

All submissions must meet the following requirements.

  • This submission meets the requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
  • This submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration.
  • All references have been checked for accuracy and completeness.
  • All tables and figures have been numbered and labeled.
  • Permission has been obtained to publish all photos, datasets and other material provided with this submission.
