Research downstreaming is an important mechanism for increasing the societal utilization of knowledge, innovations, and practical solutions generated by higher education institutions. Research and Community Service (PKM) activities provide complementary pathways through which academic knowledge can be developed, tested, transferred, and utilized by external users. This study aims to map the research and PKM activities of lecturers at the Faculty of Sports and Health Sciences (FIKK), Yogyakarta State University (UNY), during 2023–2025 and examine their potential contribution to downstreaming. The study employed a descriptive-quantitative approach based on systematic document analysis of institutional records. Data were classified according to study program, year, activity type, potential output, prospective users, and possible utilization pathways, and were analyzed using frequencies and percentages. The results identified 477 activities, comprising 279 research activities (58.49%) and 198 PKM activities (41.51%) across five study programs. Sports Science recorded the highest number of activities with 151 activities, followed by Sport Coaching Education with 127 and Physical Education, Health, and Recreation with 120. The annual distribution also indicated a gradual shift toward a more balanced composition between research and PKM, with the PKM proportion increasing from 36.27% in 2023 to 45.89% in 2025. The findings indicate that research and PKM can support downstreaming through output development, implementation, knowledge transfer, adoption, and sustainable utilization. However, activity volume alone cannot demonstrate downstreaming success, requiring stronger institutional linkages among research outputs, PKM, end-users, implementation pathways, and continued utilization.
