Peer Review Process
All authors submitting manuscripts to Corpus: International Journal of Law and Political Authority are required to complete a Statement of Ethical Compliance, which is available for download on the journal’s official website. This statement serves as formal confirmation of the authors’ commitment to ethical standards, research integrity, and responsible publication practices in the fields of law and political studies. The document is not a manuscript template; therefore, all submissions must strictly comply with the journal’s Author Guidelines.
The editorial process begins with an initial screening conducted by the editorial team. At this stage, manuscripts are evaluated for completeness of submission, compliance with formatting requirements, plagiarism screening, and alignment with the journal’s focus and scope on law, governance, and political authority.
Manuscripts that successfully pass the initial screening proceed to the peer-review stage. Corpus applies a double-blind peer-review system, in which the identities of both authors and reviewers are concealed to ensure objectivity, impartiality, and confidentiality. Each manuscript is reviewed by at least two independent reviewers with relevant expertise in legal studies, political science, or governance.
Reviewers evaluate manuscripts based on the following criteria:
-
Originality, novelty, and contribution to legal and political scholarship
-
Rigor and appropriateness of legal reasoning, theoretical or conceptual frameworks, and research methodology
-
Clarity, coherence, and logical organization of the manuscript
-
Relevance to the journal’s aims, focus, and scope in law and political authority
Based on the reviewers’ evaluations and recommendations, the editorial board may issue one of the following decisions:
-
Accept the manuscript
-
Accept with minor revisions
-
Request major revisions
-
Reject the manuscript
Authors requested to revise their manuscripts will be given a specified timeframe to submit a revised version, accompanied by a point-by-point response letter addressing each reviewer’s comment. The editorial team of Corpus is committed to maintaining transparency, fairness, and efficiency throughout the peer-review process. Authors may contact the editorial office at any stage to request updates or clarification regarding the status of their submission.
